Silver Jubilee Celebrations

In the autumn of 2019 we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Society of Catholic Priest.

Over the last 25 years, our Society has grown to support clergy all over the world in nurturing an inclusive priestly spirituality and Catholic evangelism. To give thanks for all that has been and to help us embrace all that is to come, we are planning a number of events to which members and supporters are warmly invited. This page will be updated regularly with news of the various events to mark our anniversary.

The Feast of the Holy Cross

Sunday 15 September 2019

The Feast of the Holy Cross is a special day in the life of our Society, because it was the day on which we were founded.

We are encouraging parishes to keep this as a day of joyful celebration of the presence and work of our Society in communities across the world.

Here are just a few ideas as to how you can celebrate:

The Blessing of Crosses and Crucifixes

Invite members of your congregation to bring along their crosses and crucifixes. Use the homily as an opportunity to explore the centrality of the Cross in the Christian life before offering a blessing.

Activities for Children

Explore the SCP logo and its symbolism: the cross, the Alpha and Omega, the Chi Rho.

Conclude your celebrations with cake, fizz or a bring-and-share lunch!
